In collaboration with the Ozomatli concert at the Ventura Music Hall on Dec 14, 2023, the Ozo team is helping coordinate a fundraiser alongside the Ventura community to help Victor Rodriguez.
Earlier this year, Victor married the love of his life, who is also the mother to their five year old daughter. What appeared to be a year of celebration quickly turned into a life changing medical complication. Overwhelmed by medical expenses and loss of work, Victor sought help by leaning into the Ventura Community.
“Ventura has been my home for over 40 years. I have helped run successful retail stores and help launch and maintain MadeWest brewing, at both locations… I know this city well and am close to many of its residents. ” – Victor
Consequently, Ozomatli’s support for this fundraiser has convinced Madewest Brewing to print promotional flyers and posters which will be used to promote the Dec 14th show. This promotion will in turn drive attendance and allow concert-goers to donate directly to Victor. Madewest will be curating the lower bar with decorations and signage for a fundraiser “tip jar” and QR codes to Victor’s venmo.
Furthermore, the Ozomatli team also coordinated with a local artist who will be performing a live painting which embodies all the elements of this collaboration. With two weeks left before the concert, our volunteers are energized and ecstatic to get people to the show. Let’s give the Ventura community a concert and final samba to remember.
